Project Location: Gunnison, CO United StatesProjectAboutThis project will result in a Water Management Plan for Coldharbour Ranch and the introduction of flow devices to resolve beaver-human conflict on local irrigation systems. The plan will analyze data to show resource changes over time, quantify Tomichi Creek, and provide a framework for citizen science water quality monitoring. U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will assist in assessing sites and implementing flow devices on them. Once a successful example has been built, this project will launch a producer outreach campaign in attempt to diffuse this technology throughout the Gunnison Valley.Interest Tags: Climate AdaptationConservation BiologyEcological HealthHuman-Wildlife ConflictOutreachRanchingRiparianWater PeopleFaculty Mentor(s): Jeff Sellen, Ph.D. Student(s): Malcolm MacleodCommunity Sponsor(s): MJ Pickett Project DetailsProject Start/End Years: 2019Project Status: In-ProgressOrganization(s): Coldharbour InstituteNatural Resource Conservation ServiceUpper Gunnison River Water Conservancy DistrictU.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceAcademic Program: Master in Environmental Management (MEM)
