Residence Life

Western's Residence Life team is here to ensure college feels like home and to create a space for students to become better scholars, citizens and learners. The Residence Life model incorporates various educators on and off campus who invite students out of their rooms, out of their comfort zones and into the vibrant Western and Gunnison communities.

Two-Year Live-On

Research has shown that students who live on campus as underclassmen are more likely to stay enrolled, graduate on time and feel connected to the campus community. That’s why we have a two-year live on requirement for all students who are unmarried, under 21 and not residing with their parents in Gunnison County.

The First Year Experience focuses on practical skills such as budgeting, communication, nutrition, safety skills, collaborative relationships, and physical and mental well-being.

The Second Year Experience builds on the first year and adds in career workshops, healthy and affordable cooking lessons, safety skills, healthy life skills and civil opportunities.

Visit the Two-Year Live-On Requirement page for more information.
