Julia Courtney is an Independent Curator with 25 years experience in curatorial research, collections management, exhibits development and museum education in Massachusetts. In addition to teaching in Western Colorado University's Master in Gallery & Exhibits Specialization Graduate Program, she is an adjunct faculty member for the Graduate Museum Studies Program at Tufts University, teaching Curatorial Approaches to Collections Management. Courtney is the former Curator of Art for the Springfield Museums in Western Massachusetts and editor of Legal Guide for Museum Professionals (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015) and Is it Okay to Sell the Monet? Responsible Deaccessioning for Museums (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018). She holds master's degrees in Museum Studies (Harvard University) and Art Education (Lesley University).
