Student920.254.6215heather.reineking@western.eduAddress: Gunnison, CO United StatesPeopleBiographyGraduation Year: 2021I'm originally from Sheboygan, Wisconsin and am taking part in the 3+2 Environment and Sustainability major at Western. I am currently a first year MEM student and have previous internship work in invasive species, both aquatic and terrestrial in Wisconsin. I volunteered for the Clean Boats, Clean Water organization that focuses on educating water recreationists on proper maintenance of their watercraft to decrease the spread of aquatic invasive species through Wisconsin water ways. With Camp Y-Koda, I took part in creating a local prairie which utilized a special definition of invasive species and also aided in the removal of terrestrial invasive species surrounding waterways in Sheboygan. I also have cold climate food production and sustainable library website management experience here in Gunnison. I've worked in the Chipeta gardens on campus to gain knowledge on food production under unique conditions and how that may transfer to the widespread health of our nation at a given time. Finally, I took part in a Trees for Tomorrow program in the Northwoods of Wisconsin which was focused on forestry production and hope to continue forestry work as my master's project in the future.
