OSPG Functions

  • Assist the project director or principal investigator (PI) in the interpretation of policies, regulations and guidelines applicable to particular projects.
  • Assist in locating potential funders, sponsors and partners.
  • Procure any necessary Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), guidelines and application forms as needed by interested faculty.
  • Advise, upon request, in the preparation of proposals, including standard forms to be completed, compliance and assurance forms and institutional data, budget preparation, indirect costs and evaluation.
  • Discuss program design and development, provide editorial services, review draft proposals and budgets for compliance with university regulations, and with the policies of the funding agency, as well as to provide general advice on strategies which might maximize the effectiveness of the application effort.
  • Advise on internal and external review procedures and coordinate the final internal review signature approval as expeditiously as possible.
  • Offer assistance for required periodic and final reports required.
  • Distribute information and guidelines on a variety of programs and maintain a selected reference library in identifying potential funding sources.
  • Maintain the grants data base of all Western grant activity.
  • Submit, as the Authorized Organization Representative, all hard copy and electronically submitted grants via Fastlane and 
  • Provide re-submittal support.
  • Assist in the procurement of funds from the Indirect Cost Incentive Fund.
