This year Program Council has grown its team to help plan, market and put on campus events.

Western’s Program Council is a group of students who come together to plan events.

This year, they've hired Adam Parks and Spencer Shiplett as tech coordinators, Liz Beggs as marketing coordinator, Jae Seurer as event coordinator and Katelyn Swartz as publicity coordinator. The team also hired Syd Saltalamacchia as assistant director and Chris Doucet as director. Lauren Echevarria serves as their advisor.

The Program Council students hope to be recognized as a group coming together to plan events such as Spring Fest, pool parties, a silent disco and karaoke nights in the ICElab.

Spring Fest is one of the biggest events that Program Council puts on; it's a free campus concert every spring. They bring in both local and large artists to perform. Although this is the biggest event Program Council is known for, the focus this year is to draw attention to all of their events—because so much planning goes into each one.

“We are the main event organizers for the school," Doucet said. "Every club and organization puts on their own events, but we are the ones responsible for putting on the biggest events because of the budget we have."

Not only is the Program Council in charge of the big events, but they also have the ability to sponsor other student events with equipment and up to $300 in funds. Other clubs can reach out to Program Council to help them plan an event they have in mind.

Make sure to keep an eye out for Program Council events that happen on campus. Follow their Instagram (@wscu_pc) to see pictures and stay up to date on their events.
