During the morning of Thursday, Oct. 31, an accumulation of ice caused a fire suppression main line to break in two locations in the ceiling above the third-floor hallway in Moffat Hall. All three floors have been affected by the water damage.

Moffat Hall residents were given time to collect their belongings and were relocated to vacant rooms in other residence halls. Moffat will be closed to entry for the remainder of the weekend. Students may contact Residence Life at 970-943-2101 or Facilities Services at 970-943-3087 to request entrance to the building. After hours, students can contact the on-call Residence Life staff at 970-943-1021.

The damaged line has been repaired and is fully operational in all areas except the third floor. This section of line will be pressure tested over the weekend under the supervision of security personnel.

Western Custodial Services has been redirected from their normal duties to assist with the cleanup and expedite the repair process. These activities will continue throughout the weekend, and an assessment will be made Monday, Nov. 4 regarding the building condition and re-entry. Repair activities are expected to continue throughout the following weeks, and efforts will be made to minimize any disruptions related to these activities.
