Building relationships between alumni and students
Your Alumni Relations department is proud to announce its new mentoring program designed to help students complete their degrees and obtain promising job opportunities.
Mountaineer Mentors is an innovative program that will foster meaningful relationships between alumni and students. The Mountaineer Mentors program will pilot January 2020. Alumni from all industries, majors and career paths are encouraged to apply. As an alumni mentor, you will have the opportunity to advise students on careers, academic guidance and personal development.
Mountaineer Mentors is an automated platform that assists mentees in the review of mentor profiles so they can “favorite” mentors who fit their interests and goals. Once matched, the frequency and form of communication (phone call, text or email) will be determined by both mentor and mentee. Throughout the year, an Alumni Relations and Career Services team will offer tips on effective mentorship techniques, topics to discuss with your students, and suggested activities to connect. Your team will also stand by to answer any questions you might have. Prior mentorship experience is not required. Mentors are asked to commit for the spring 2020 semester (January through early May).
