Project Location: PanamaProjectAboutThis project will address the worth of mountainous regions and their sensitivity to the climate by bolstering their presence within global scientific literature, working in response to a direct mandate from the United Nations Mountain Partnership (UNMP), alongside the Mountain Resilience Coalition (MRC) based in Colorado, USA, and representing the UNMP's North American, Central American, and Caribbean mountainous region. Through the analysis and combination of existing quantitative mountainous geographical region delineations and the inclusion of additional quantitative, qualitative, and subjective parameters not traditionally used in geographical region delineating, a new, more accurate delineation of mountainous regions will be created. With this new, proposed delineation, mountainous communities can be more accurately represented amongst the science community and within global literature to increase their importance as primary suppliers of necessary resources for the environment and modern human life.Regional: North America, Central America, and the CaribbeanInterest Tags: Climate AdaptationClimate ChangeClimate MitigationCollaborationCross-Boundary CollaborationResilienceSustainable DevelopmentSustainable Mountain Development PeopleFaculty Mentor(s): Abel Chávez, Ph.D.Student(s): Aubrey Schoff Project DetailsProject Start/End Years: 2019Project Status: In-ProgressOrganization(s): Mountain Resilience Coalition Academic Program: Master in Environmental Management (MEM)
