Epilogue: One Valley Prosperity Project
Russell Forrest is the Assistant County Manager and Community Development Director for Gunnison County. Prior to coming to Gunnison County, Russell was the Town Manager in Snowmass Village from 2007 to 2013. He was both the Senior Environmental Planner and then the Community Development Director for Vail, Colo., from 1992 to 2007. He received a Master and Bachelors in Urban and Regional Planning form the University of Illinois and began his professional career as a Fellow with the US Army Environmental Policy Institute working on environmental and land use policy issues for the US Army.
Cathie Pagano is Senior Planner with Gunnison County Community Development. She has a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy Management and is also a Certified Environmental Planner. She has lived in the Gunnison Valley for nearly 20 years and loves being part of a community where making a difference and civic engagement is so highly valued. Cathie and her husband also own Double Shot Cyclery on Main Street in Gunnison. Owning a small business has provided Cathie with an entirely different approach to developing community in the Gunnison Valley which she has enjoyed immensely.
John Gioia is the Long Range Planning Fellow in Gunnison County’s Community Development Department, working primarily on the One Valley Prosperity Project. He is also a candidate in Western's Master in Environmental Management program where he is studying climate change vulnerability in the Gunnison Basin and throughout the state of Colorado. Originally from New England, John has lived in Colorado since 2006 and is proud to have found a home in the strong, supportive, and friendly community of the Gunnison Valley for the past two years.
