Human Papilloma Virus

HPV(Human Pailloma Virus) is a common virus that affects both FEMALES and MALES. Most types of HPV are harmless and go away on their own. However some types are high risk and can cause cervical cancer and abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix.

Anyone who has any kind of sexual activity involving genital contact could get genital HPV. many people who have HPV may not show any kind of sign or symptom but may still transmit the virus to others without even knowing it. HPV causes genital warts in both males and females and because some types of HPV can cause cervical cancer it is important to consider the HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine protects against 4 major types of HPV. These include the two types that cause about 70% of cervical cancer and the two types that cause about 90% of genital warts. HPV vaccine can prevent most most genital warts and most cases of cervical cancer. Please go to for more information about this disease.

Because HPV disease can impact MALES and FEMALES

There are over 30 types of human papillomavirus (HPV) that will affect an estimated 75% to 80% of males and females in there lifetime. For most, HPV clears on its own. But for the few who don't clear certain types, HPV can cause cervical cancer in females. other types can cause genital warts in both males and females. And there's no way to predict who will or won't clear the virus.

Every day, in the U.S., 30 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer (about 11,000 women per year) and it is estimated that each minute, there is a new case of genital warts.

GARDASIL is the only HPV vaccine that helps protect against 4 types of HPV. In girls and young women ages 9 to 26, GARDASIL helps protect against 2 types of HPV that cause about 75% of cervical cancer cases, and 2 more types that cause 90% of genital warts cases. in boys and young men ages 9 to 26, GARDASIL helps protect against 90% of genital warts cases.

GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone. GARDASIL does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so its important for women to continue routine cervical cancer screenings. GARDASIL does not treat cervical cancer or genital warts. GARDASIL is given as 3 injections over 6 months.

Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients of GARDASIL, including those severely allergic to yeast, should not receive the vaccine. GARDASIL is not for women who are pregnant.
