Instructional Methods for Diverse Learners

Students will read three books covering topics about diverse learners: Instructional Methods for Differentiation and Deeper Learning, The Dyslexic Advantage and Designing Your Life. Topics will include gifted learners, culturally diverse learners, deep learning methods, the dyslexic brain, reasoning, and intentional goal setting.  During each discussion session, students will discuss educational strategies to best support students and systemic strategies to improve our school. 

Personal Financial Literacy for Teachers

  • Required Text: The One Page Financial Plan by Carl Richards

Students will read the One Page Financial Plan by Carl Richards.  Students will attend four sessions with Personal Financial Advisor Mark Trautman to discuss the “why” of financial planning, net worth, budgeting, spending saving, investing, credit reports, credit scores, insurance, fraud, identity theft, and income taxes.  Students will meet one session with Shari Sullivan Marshall, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for GWSD, to learn about the state personal financial literacy standards and to crosswalk those standards across curriculum.
