Welcome to “Writing the Rockies” 2008. Beginners, published writers, and anyone else who believes in the magic and power of the written word are invited to attend.

Set in the beautiful Gunnison Valley of the central Colorado Rockies on the campus of Western State College, the workshop will offer valuable learning tools in an inspiring setting. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore recreational and cultural highlights of the area.

For the past several years Western State College has hosted the “Writing the West” workshop, an event that has attracted participants from as far away as Japan. This year we will expand the focus of the American West while continuing to work with highly respected authors from around the nation.

Workshop faculty members have a broad range of published works, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoirs, magazine articles and Western music. Working with participants of all levels, our featured faculty will help writers hone their craft through lectures and will mix with participants during events outside of workshop sessions. A book publisher will be on hand during a portion of the session, and several surprise guests will make appearances.

Attendees can also earn college credit. Contact Layne Nelson, Director of WSC's Extended Studies Program at (970) 943-2885.
