Music at Western
The Music Program at Western State College sponsors many public events for the campus community. Most of the recitals and concerts are free; however, the few concerts with admission fees have low prices for WSC students. Several confirmed concerts are listed in the handbook calendar but a complete schedule of events with admission fees (if charged) will be posted around campus at the beginning of each term and concerts will be advertised in campus and community media.
All Western students, regardless of major, are welcome to participate in any of the Music Program ensembles--choir, orchestra, symphony band, varsity (pep) band, jazz ensembles, and additional vocal and instrumental chamber ensembles.
Auditions
Auditions are required for placement and/or registration for the various performance groups. Further information may be obtained by contacting the individual faculty member or Dr. Martha Violett, Director of the Music Program (970-943-3054 or mviolett@western.edu).
