Janna Hansen
Janna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree here at Western in 2001, receiving a degree in Recreation with an emphasis in Outdoor Education Leadership and Instruction. She worked as a guide all through college raft guiding, rock climbing, kayaking and backpacking in Colorado and California. She worked as a WP instructor as a student at Western under the directorship of Matt Tyler. After graduation, Janna spent two years working for the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office in Montrose, as a River Ranger in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. She spent 3 years between undergrad and grad school working seasonally guiding, waiting tables and traveling throughout South and Central America and Asia. Janna worked for the outdoor education program at Dunn School in Los Olivos, CA spending 3 years as a guide and their Head of Operations. Janna then attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota, Mankato graduating with a Master of Science in Experiential Education. Janna returned to Western State College in July of 2005 as the Assistant Director of Campus Life. She has been the Director of Wilderness Pursuits since August 2008.
