IV. Guest Speaker
· Gary Pierson: Mesa State is thinking about changing their name and one possibility we have heard is University of Western Colorado and we are looking into it. We are opposed to the idea and we are looking into a strategy to kill the idea before it comes into bill form and we are hoping to hear your voice as the student body as well.
· Keith Hefley and Jennifer Morgan with Rage in the Sage Music Festival:
· Noah: Isn’t there a bike race called this?
· We researched it and no one owns the name and we registered the name Rage in the Sage Music with the Secretary of the state. We wanted the name to become synonymous with Gunnison. We want the first day of the festival to be from noon until late at night and then the second day would have recreational events to help push sales for vendors and then have the headliner band.
· Grace: Where are you guys from?
· Rage in the Sage Music is our company
· Grace: What happens if we don’t give you the money?
· It would be very difficult for us to put on the event. We need a lot of investors. Having the students’ help would help us get vendors.
· Grace: If we vote in April is that enough time?
· We need 3-6 months so yes, but it is cutting it close though.
· Alan: If you are using property and fees and names why not cut us in for 15%?
· Nothing is set in stone we are willing to negotiate. The key is volume of tickets.
· Devon: We just recently passed a bill to increase a fee to add more buildings so students are already paying a lot more. Maybe we could put it in as an optional fee so students can choose.
· Haleigh: What kind of bands?
· We have a list and we are open for ideas. We want good performers and that will draw attention statewide.
· Walker: If we do decide to add to students’ fees maybe you could get the students’ vote for the headliner.
· Western will be all over the marketing.
· Sarah: There needs to be a 10% student initiative to get a ballot.
· Nick: When is the bike race that’s going on then?
· 2 weeks before
· Nick: Maybe you could lower all the Western students’ tickets to $40 instead of $50.
· Alan: You could sell camping space for $5 a space and that can go back to the students.
· Shayna: Have you heard of the festival in Veil? They get a lot of local bands as well as big headliners. Maybe get big bands from the Denver area.
· We were actually planning on having all Colorado bands the first day.
· Grace: Have you spoken with anyone else besides Gary Pierson?
· No
· Grace: I think you will need to talk to other administrators.
· Gary gave us a lot of names.
· Grace: I think it would be good to have an SGA student liaison with you and the faculty.
· Shelley: There may be more budget cuts as well.
· Devon: I think you will need to make it significantly different than Springfest so that students will recognize it as different.

VI. Advisor Report
· Shelley: Great retreat thank you everyone for coming. Friday Feb 4 is convocation deadline. If you would like a form to submit let me know. We have about $1000 left to allocate. Spring graduation deadline this Friday so see Ginny Hayes.
VII. Committee Reports
· Academic policies: We discussed J term and May term.
· Curriculum: We are meeting February 2 and we are discussing the revoking of journalism minor.
· Campus foundation: None
· Inter Club Campus: We met this week with alpine ski team and allocated them $1000 dollars and we opened the opportunity to give them $500 to start up a fundraiser. We judged the club fair and sex positive and tri beta tied for first place.
· Fitness Center: None
· Program Council and SGA: None
· CCE: We will have a bill.
· Athletics: We are setting up a meeting.
· Sustainability: None
· Student affairs: None
· Library: None
· Year of sustainability: None
· Press: Let’s meet after this meeting.
· Constitution: We are meeting February 13 at 6 pm.
· Apartment conference calls: February 8 and 9 is the conference call.
VIII. Discussion Items
· Megan: Peak Productions Bill:
· This is a great opportunity and would be a great experience for us to go.
· Jesse: How will this benefit the student body?
· We have done Thursday productions that are open to anyone to help and be a part of in any way interested. As a faculty member I learn from these experiences and incorporate them into my teaching. The students get to learn how to run work shops.
· Grace: What time is the interest meeting tomorrow?
· 4:00. Chuck is a NY actor relocated to Denver and is directing our production right now.
· Grace: How will you get there if we do not allocate all the money?
· We would have to dig deeper into our own reserve.
· Grace: Could you pay for it by yourselves?
· The actors are nominated so it is a privilege to go and not just a fun trip.
· Devon: Can Duke pay for himself since he is not a student?
· He is a valuable part so we would cover him.

· Devon: Ice Climbing Bill: We are using the old Shavano buildings to create the wall. We will have instructors that will teach students how to ice climb and WP will be loaning the gear so students won’t have to rent anything. This will be for community members and students.
· Noah: This is a trial period before the new rec center is built to see how the ice wall works.
· Sarah: Would it be more feasible to do it on buildings that aren’t being torn down?
· The main reason we are allowed to do this by facilities is because they are tearing down the building.
· Jesse: How long will you keep it up?
· Until it gets too warm.
· Jesse: How will you keep people off at night?
· We will have fences and only certain times open.
· Alan: Where are you getting the fences? Is there an insurance liability?
· Facilities has extra fencing that we can use and I am not sure on the insurance I will check.
· Walker: Are WP and you working together on this?
· Noah: Yes.
· Devon: If it works out, is there a possibility of a permanent one on campus?
· Noah: Depending on funding we would like to make a permanent one. This is a trial period.

· Ciera: May term Information: The tuition for May courses are not due until the last day of class. We were thinking about having a May term and an early summer term and dropping the late summer term. It would be very difficult to do J term and May term at the same time. Commencement would be pushed to June. I want to see if your constituents would prefer May term or J term.
· Megan: What kind of classes will be offered in May?
· It would be up to the professor but it would probably be upper level. It would be difficult for art and science to work into this schedule. Please talk to your constituents and let me know their thoughts.
IX. Advisory Reports
· Sarah: There will be a representative from DU law school tomorrow in Kelley 201 at 12:30. Good turn out last week for the student forum about the new rec center. I have the designs and suggestion box.
· Jesse: You can meet the city council potential candidates at noon tomorrow. There will be ordinances increasing court costs and some fees adjusted. If any of you work at a local business let owners know that city pushing to lower carbon footprint and the first 40 businesses that come to them will get $425 to get started on helping accomplish this. Amigos Throwback dance across the hall after this meeting.
· Lauren: If anyone is interested in being the liaison for Rage in the Sage Music let me know.
· Molly: None
· Grace: We over budgeted this year.
· Sabret: We had our first meeting and we talked about the activities we will be putting on this semester. Wrestling is at Adams tomorrow night. Mens and womens basketball at Metro on Friday and Saturday night at Regis. Wrestling here is on Friday night.
· Travis: We started basketball Monday night. We have 22 teams.
· Jamie: A lot of clubs are joining the 6 points fundraiser where we are having Bingo. Contact me if you want to get a ticket. It is February 4 and it’s $10.
· Noah: we had Ice II this past weekend in Ouray and had a lot of fun. We have AV I and II and ice climbing trips this weekend.
· Elijah: Tomorrow through Sunday we are hosting the showing of the winter x games in the ballroom. We will have snacks and prizes. February 17 is Winter Fest and we are teaming up with the free ride ski team and their rail jam and chili cook off and we are bringing in a band. Jamie wants to judge chili.
· Angie: Theater interest group meeting is at 4:00 tomorrow in Keating and the play opens soon. The online edition of pathfinder will be open soon.

· D’Andre: After the field house forum, Coach Banes and I had a meeting with Waggoner about having turf in the field center. We are working on getting some ideas for this. Another school has a big roller to allow for courts and turf. Another idea is to just have a section of the field house in turf. This would be for soccer and lacrosse and others as well.
· Devon: Will football have first choice?
· Nick: Probably, but there will be time for reservation for other groups.
· Sarah: We discussed this in detail yesterday and we don’t know how we would do it and if we even have the funds. We are trying to steer it more towards the use for everyone.
· Walker: We had a meeting with Jess Young and it was productive and she had some concerns about the staff if course evaluations were made public. They are currently on a cd-rom that students can go look at if they want.
· Chris: WRAP is showing Inception in the ballroom next Thursday at 8 pm and this Friday WRAP is hosting “Friday by the Fire” which will be at the upstairs fire place area and will have hot cocoa and people can bring musical instruments. At the retreat I talked about how some were intimidated and I asked why and it was basically stage fright.
