Counseling Center

The Counseling Center Mental Health Services are provided by Midwestern Colorado Mental Health Center (a.k.a. The Center for Mental Health).  We are located at the Campus Health Center-104 Tomichi Hall.

Full-time students, faculty and staff are entitled to receive up to seven (7) free mental health counseling sessions per school year.  Part-time students are entitled to receive pro-rated visits.  (Additional mental health services may be referred).  

  • Counseling Services:

    Counseling Services include both individual and couples counseling, adjustment issues, relationship concerns, grief or loss, anxiety, depression, alcohol and substance use, urgent consulation and crisis intervention or any other issues clients may want to address.  Any area that is causing concern is appropriate for seeking help. 

  • Counseling Center Hours:  The Counseling Center is open during the WSC Academic Calendar.  (We are closed on Holidays, Vacations and College Breaks):

  • MONDAY and TUESDAY 8-12 AND 1-5

  • WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY 10-3 and 4-7

  • FRIDAY 8-12

  • Phone Number:  Campus Counseling Center 970-943-2484  (appointments recommended)

  • Emergency and After Hours Phone Number:  970-252-6220 - (This is a free service)  Please tell the answering service that you are from WSC in Gunnison and need to speak with the On-Call Clinician.  Give them your phone number and they will call you back within 15 minutes. Stay by the phone.  If you have not heard back from them in 15 minutes, call again.  You may also call 911 or go directly to the Gunnison Valley Hospital (711 N. Taylor Street)
