EFC Student Staff Supervisor

This is a new position for the fitness center. The EFC Student Staff Supervisor(s) is (are) responsible for supervising the EFC staff during the time periods when the manager and assistant manager are not in the fitness center. The job responsibilities include orientating, training, assigning work, supervising, evaluating performance, and disciplining EFC staff. Good leadership, great public relations, excellent communication, and team building skills are a must for this job.  The EFC Student Staff Supervisor will report to the EFC Manager and Assistant Manager.

Position Qualifications: EFC Student Staff Supervisors must be a WSC student; apply for FAFSA work study monies (priority deadline is April 1 for the fall semester); be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs; required to learn and be certified in belaying; must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certification* (a copy of the cards required); and have some knowledge of operational and fitness center management.

 

EFC Staff

The EFC Staff employees are the ambassadors of the fitness center, therefore, great public relations and excellent communication skills are a must for this position. All employees are responsible for completing correct membership sales, checking in fitness center members, cleaning, vacuuming, putting away equipment, checking in/out equipment, and other tasks as assigned by the managers. The EFC staff will be trained and certified in belaying. The EFC staff will be trained to give fitness center orientation sessions, and provide exercise suggestions and advised to inquisitive patrons.

Position Qualifications: Students must apply for FAFSA and be a Federal or State approved work study awarded participant (priority deadline is April 1 for the fall semester); staff members must be able to lift minimum of 45 lbs.; required to learn and be certified in belaying; and must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified* (a copy of the cards are required). Students with exercise science or recreational backgrounds are preferred; however, other backgrounds are welcomed. 

 

Climbing Wall Coordinator

The Climbing Wall Coordinator (CWC) is responsible for the overall management of the climbing walls in EFC. This includes overseeing the safety and risk management aspects of all the climbing walls. The CWC will set up scheduled inspections and maintenance of all the climbing walls on a regular basis. The CWC will also train the EFC Staff to be belayed certified, and mentor the EFC staff to learn all aspects of climbing and maintaining a climbing wall. The CWC will be responsible for setting new routes and teaching the EFC staff the route setting methods. The CWC will work closely with the WSC climbing club and help with inter-collegiate climbing competitions. The CWC will oversee the climbing aspect of the EFC staff and will report to the EFC Manager and Assistance Manager. The CWC will let the EFC Manager know of any equipment or facility needs.

Position Qualifications: Students must apply for FAFSA work study monies (priority deadline is April 1 for the fall semester); must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified* (a copy of the cards are required); must be belayed certified; and have previous climbing wall work experience.  

 

Group Fitness Instructors

This job is available for students who are interested in teaching group fitness programming. Students who have current group fitness certification may request to teach their certified program at EFC. The Group Fitness Instructors will report to the EFC Manager.

Position Qualifications: If the student does not have nationally recognized group fitness certification, and must attend the EFC group fitness trainings sessions scheduled for the weekend before fall semester and the first two weeks of the semester. Non- certified group fitness instructors will be teaching the pre-choreographed Group RX programming (RIP, REVOLUTION, WAR, BOOT and POWER STEP). All Group Fitness Instructors must apply for FAFSA work study monies (priority deadline is April 1 for next fall).  All Group Fitness Instructors must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certification* (a copy of the cards is required).  

 

Student Personal Trainers

This position is opened to WSC students who have a nationally recognized, current personal training certification. ACSM and ACE Personal Training Certifications are preferred. This position also requires current certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid* (a copy of the cards is required). Student Personal Trainers will report to the EFC Manager.
