Scholarships

This information has been designed to assist you in applying for scholarships at Western.  As you read through the information, you will note there are a myriad of scholarships available.  We invite and encourage you to apply for any of the scholarships listed for which you may qualify.

All applications may be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid. ALL APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS ARE DUE BY APRIL 1ST for the following year unless otherwise noted.

"The Common Scholarship Application"

Students may apply for multiple scholarships with one application known as "The Common Scholarship Application".  This application is available to download below as well as in the financial aid office, Taylor Hall Rm. 207.  Students are required to read through the descriptions of the Scholarships available on the application and check off any for which they feel they qualify.  The Application also requires a letter of recommendation, transcript and statement from the student.  "The Common Scholarship Application" and all components are due in the Financial Aid Office no later than APRIL 1ST of each year.

Western does not guarantee that you will receive any of the scholarships listed.  Remember that even if you meet all the requirements for the scholarship(s) for which you are applying and your application is received in a timely manner, the scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.  Availability, amounts and application procedures are subject to change and availability of funding.

Information on Other Scholarships

The Nomination Process

Some scholarships are awarded through a nomination process by Western faculty or athletic coaches.  We encourage you to contact any and all individuals to solicit nominations for scholarships for which you feel you deserve consideration.

Other Applications

Western State College offers many other scholarships which have requirements other than those on "The Common Scholarship Application".  Most require a separate application or a letter to a certain individual or committee.  These scholarships and requirements are identified under the 'Descriptions and criteria' section below.
