The College Center
The campus makeover continues with the construction of the new the College Center, which is slated to open in January 2010. The 70,000 square-foot building stands on the site of the former “Student Union,” which was out-dated and no longer able to accommodate the needs of the students. The new center also features facilities that benefit members of the Gunnison Valley community.
The College Center will house student services offices, residential and retail dining, the Wilderness Pursuits program and other student organizations listed below — which were relocated to Ute Hall after the Union’s demolition. The building also will have meeting rooms with multi-media tools, a ballroom and retail space.
Also taking center stage in the building will be a first-run movie theater with 3D capabilities, a much-desired amenity that will benefit both the campus and Gunnison Valley community. Other recreational features include a gaming center and billiard room.
The primary purpose of the new College Center, however, is to provide a centralized gathering place for students to socialize and get more involved in campus events and activities.
