In April of 2000 the RMOTE Consortium received $3.5 million from the U.S. Department of Education Technology Innovation Challenge Grant to train K-12 teachers to implement technology into their curriculum to improve student acheivement in six southwestern rural school districts.

The project, entitled the Rural Mountain Organization of Technological Enhancement II (RMOTE II), is headquartered at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado and includes school districts in Gunnison County, Hinsdale County(Lake City), San Miguel County (Ridgway), Ouray County, and Saguache County (Mountain Valley and Moffat.)

The primary focus of this grant is to provide on-site (within classrooms) and on-going staff development in technology integration in five curricular areas: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Languages.

All of the partners are contributing to the success of this grant. 64% of the total cost for the project will be financed with federal funds and 36% will be financed by the RMOTE partners.
