Family and friends of Bruce who died suddenly during his freshman year. Since Bruce was unable to fulfill his dreams, the family wishes to help other students achieve their goals.

Amount: $2,000 for one academic year.

Joseph A. Kastellic Scholarship is Available to:

 Full-time students who are majoring in Environmental Studies, Environmental Biology or a related field. Must be junior level (60 credits) or above and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Preference given to students with financial need who are residents of the Western Slope of Colorado and have expressed interest in a career in park operations/park management or a career in the earth sciences.

Barbara Kastellic and gifts from others to honor Joseph, who was the first Superintendent of the Black Canyon National Monument from 1975-1984.

Kiefer, Brian L. Memorial Scholarship Available to:

Must be a junior or senior member of the Western Men´s or Women's Intercollegiate Basketball team or Western Volleyball team, must demonstrate leadership both on and off the court, must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better, and must maintain a well-rounded educational experience. Extracurricular involvement (outside Intercollegiate Athletics) will be considered.

Scholarship provided by:

Established to perpetuate the memory of Brian L. Kiefer who was an outstanding example of leadership, academic achievement and Intercollegiate Athletic ability. To recognize outstanding scholarship, citizenship and Intercollegiate Athletic ability, and to encourage students to continue their education at Western.

Scholarship amount:

$750.00 per semester. Applicants must reapply and show they have maintained the required eligibility in order to receive the scholarship for the second semester. The recipient shall have his name inscribed on the Brian L. Kiefer plaque displayed in Paul Wright Gymnasium.

Knight, Sophie Hamrick Memorial Scholarship is Available to:

Western students who have established financial need and a positive attitude; must demonstrate interest and potential in becoming a teacher. Preference will be given to freshmen, but open to students in all classes and to high school graduates who may not be eligible for other scholarships awarded to top 5% of graduating class.

Her son, V. Robert Kerr, to perpetuate the memory of Sophie Simpson Knight, an outstanding example of academic achievement, citizenship, and an exemplar of courage and dedication in the pursuit of education and knowledge. Mrs. Knight's association with Western began in 1944 and continued for more than 20 years, graduating with an A.B. and a Life Certificate in 1957 at the age of 64.

Purpose:
To provide scholarship assistance for Art students, celebrating the memory of Mary L. Alber, Western class of 1942. Amount of award determined by available funds. Renewable.

• Full-time formally-admitted junior or senior Art majors seeking Art Education Licensure.

Students who have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credits at Western and at least 6 credits that apply toward the major. Must be a declared major in Mathematics. Financial need and the student's contribution to the math program will also be considered.
