Summer Resident Advisor

The Office of Residence Life is seeking motivated individuals to be Summer Resident Advisors who are dedicated to maintaining a safe and pleasant on-campus living environment for Summer 2005. Working under the supervision of the Apartments Resident Director and the Associate Director of Residence Life, these Summer RAs will work with summer school and non-traditional housing, particularly the on-campus apartments.

JOB DESCRIPTION:    Live-in position. T he Resident Advisor (RA) is responsible for learning and enforcing Residence Hall policies. Individual works cooperatively with residents to ensure an environment that respects the rights and privacy of individuals while promoting consideration for others. I nitiates and organizes programs which meet the needs and interests of the residents as well as other assigned tasks. Co nsistently confronts and reports suspected violations to the Resident Director. R egularly available and capable of assisting and assisting students with con cerns related to their total college experience. Ad ministrative tasks including but not limited to room check-in and check-out procedures. Must hold duty phone and be on duty as scheduled, attend contact meetings and other training as deemed necessary by the Resident Director and/or the Office of Residence Life.

REQUIREMENTS, REMUNERATION & DATES: A motivated WSC Student with at least sophomore standing at the time of employment and experience living/working in a Residence Hall setting. Cumulative 2.75 GPA required.  Evidence of leadership experience and organizational skills required.

* When on duty, the Resident Advisor will respond to situations within a reasonable timeframe. At all times the RA will be available to assist students and deal efficiently and effectively with issues campus-wide.

** Summer RAs may take summer classes or hold additional employment, with the exception of orientation and conference services positions, as long as the RA position is given priority. Individuals anticipating Residence Life employment for the 2006-2007 academic year are not eligible to apply.
