Welcome Letter from the Apartments Staff:
The staff of WSC’s Independent Living and Learning center would like to welcome you!
With the physical location of our buildings (campus to the east and Gunnison west), residents are given the opportunity to live on campus and have the surrounding community just steps away. This allows for a short bike ride or walk to Main Street’s shops and restaurants, access to community grocery facilities (all of our apartments have kitchens), and many other amenities. The RTA Crested Butte bus stop for WSC is also located just outside our buildings. If you head east, you are only a few short steps away from campus activities, the library, academic buildings, and sporting events.
In the apartments, we look to provide a warm, comfortable, and safe living environment. Through various programs, we hope to encourage a sense of personal ownership and self-learning. By sharing all community building and apartment space, residents have the ability to engage in living methods that explore elements of mutual respect. This respect for others can lead to personal growth, enhanced life skills, and a more positive living experience for all. Our center’s unique partnership with Career Services (Union 102) allows residents to access information related to personal resumes, job interviews, and career planning.
Our center also has a community garden for all to use (located just north of Chipeta Hall). By voluntarily assisting with the upkeep (watering, de-weeding, etc.), residents are allowed to use a small portion of fresh produce. Composting can also take place in this location. This area spurs our center’s efforts to promote sustainable or green living methods. Living methods related to conservation can help reduce our apartment buildings’ impact on the beautiful area that surrounds Gunnison. More information about these methods will be provided after you move in!
Thanks again for your interest in our area.
All the best,
WSC Apartments Staff
