Application Information

Congratulations on your decision to attend Western State College of Colorado ! As you know, where you live and who you live with while attending college will greatly impact your experience. Living on-campus immerses you in opportunities to interact with fellow students and connect with the campus learning community. Western values this residential experience so highly, that all first-year students* are required and all other students** are encouraged to live on-campus. I am writing to inform you about the living options available and the application process.

Western offers a variety of living options. First-year students* will select one of two residence hall options: newly renovated Escalante Complex – home of the First-Year Experience Living & Learning Center and Mears Complex – home of the Community Living & Learning Center.

Other students** may select a residence hall above or a campus apartment. Chipeta Hall offers newer furnished and unfurnished, one and two bedroom apartments; Shavano Complex offers more affordable, furnished one and two bedroom apartments. Non-traditional students (over 24 years, married, or with children) may complete and return the enclosed form to receive information about on-campus Non-Traditional and Family Housing .

Below you will find the link to (1) General Housing Policies, (2) a New Student Application, (3) a New Student Dining Contract, (4) Student Housing Contract. Please complete and return the Appilcation, Dining Contract, and the Housing Contact along with a $100.00 housing deposit to hold your space on campus for the spring semester. The address of our office can be found at the top of these forms. The date we receive your deposit determines how we prioritize residence hall and apartment preference assignments. You must cancel your housing contract in writing by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2 nd to receive a refund of your housing deposit.

We are certainly looking forward to your arrival. If you have any questions about on-campus living or dining, please do not hesitate to call our office at (970) 943-2101 or toll free at (800) 876-5309.

* First year students and transfer students with less than 24 semester hours or under 21 years of age.

** Other students – 2nd year students and transfer students who have completed 24 semester hours or are 21 years old.
