Veterans Services
The Veterans Affairs Office accepts paperwork and counsels student veterans on how to collect their VA educational assistance entitlement. Enrollment certifications are completed by this office and reported to the appropriate VA regional office.

For information on how to apply for educational benefits, or changes in enrollment status, please contact the Western State College of Colorado, Office of Veterans Affairs (located in the Registration Services Office) at (970) 943-2047 or come by Taylor Hall 201. You may check the status of your benefits by calling 1-888-GIBILL1. This is an automated phone system which allows you to check your status 24 hours/day.
Basic instructions for receiving educational benefits:
New Veteran Students

Complete VA Form 22-1990 (application for educational benefits). This should be done at the earliest possible time after you have been accepted to Western State College of Colorado. It may take 6 to 8 weeks for your claim to be processed, so file as early as possible.
Provide a certified copy of your separation papers, DD214 (active duty) or an original "Notice of Basic Eligibility" from your reserve unit (reservists).
