Kelley Solar Panels

  • Generates solar electricity and heats hot water for the building.
  • Supplies about 5-10% of Kelley’s energy use.
  • Great in all seasons since Gunnison is so sunny!  The snow does have to be cleared off of them in the winter for them to work properly.
  • May seem like a small step towards supplying campus with renewable energy, but they were the first solar panels installed on campus and they have sparked much bigger conversations about solar projects at Western.  They are also useful as a teaching tool which is important as Western is an educational institution.
