Elva Dryer - Olympian

Elva Dryer, a 1996 graduate of Western and former Mountaineer women's cross country and track and field member and two time Olympian, now lives in Gunnison and works at Western's University Center. Dryer, won two national cross country championships in 1993 and 1994 and five national outdoor track and field championships between the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter runs. She won the 3,000-meter run in all four years of eligibility and is one of five women in Division II history to sweep an outdoor event in all four seasons. 

Dryer was a 13-time All-American and a 16-time RMAC champion in her Mountaineer career before going on to compete in the Olympic Games in Sydney and Athens. She's been inducted into the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers Sports Hall of Fame, the RMAC Hall of Fame, the Colorado Running Hall of Fame, Colorado Sportsman Hall of Fame, the National Cross Country Hall of Fame and the Division II Track and Field Hall of Fame.
