WSC to Host Adaptive Sports Speaker Marc Romero, March 14
March 6, 2012 -- Marc Romero, former US Disabled Ski Team member, will present a talk about adaptive sports on Wednesday, March 14 at Western State College of Colorado (WSC).
Romero’s presentation, “The Adaptive Sports Evolution,” will begin at 7 p.m. in the WSC College Center South Ballroom. This event is free and open to the public.
During his talk, Romero will share stories about adaptive racers at the 2012 X Games, US Paralympians and Paralympics, blind skiing/guiding, evolution of the sit-ski and the Bomber Handcycle made in Crested Butte.
Romero lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident when he was a high school senior. A determined athlete, Romero taught himself how to waterski on one leg and eventually found himself on the ski slopes. He was a member of the Disabled Ski/Race Team at Winter Park, Colo., and also competed with the US Disabled Ski Team. After retiring from the teams, Romero dedicated his time to sharing the experiences of adaptive athletes as a speaker, writer and film producer through his organizations Adaptation Education and One Track Productions.
