WSC Music Department Presents Clarinet and Piano Recital, Oct. 1
Sept. 22, 2009 -- Clarinetist Keith Koepsel and pianist Alyce Meredith will present an evening of works for piano and clarinet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1 in Quigley Recital Hall at Western State College in Gunnison.
The evening's program will include "Fantasie Concertante" by Lecail, a work reminiscent of Debussy; "Introduction, Theme and Variations" by Rossini; "Five Pieces for Solo Clarinet" by Gordon Jacob; three accompanied clarinet duets of Klezmer music; and "Jazz Etude" by Michael Garson.
All performers on the evening's program have close ties with the Gunnison schools and Western State College. Koepsel teaches music in the Gunnison Community School and elementary music education methods in the WSC Department of Music. Meredith accompanies the WSC Concert Choir and student performances at Western and taught elementary music for many years in the Gunnison Community School and in Kansas. In the Klezmer duets they will be joined by clarinetist Jim Perkins, a Western graduate and teacher and principal in the Gunnison schools.
Admission to the concert is free.
