In this new cabinet-level position, Joyce will provide leadership and develop strategies on all matters related to student enrollment and retention through research and assessment, marketing and collaboration with various campus entities. She also will supervise the areas of admission and financial aid.

“Dr. Joyce is a wonderful fit for Western. She has proven skills in enrollment management and a strong background in marketing. We are very much looking forward to Dr. Joyce joining the senior administrative team at Western,” said WSC President Jay Helman.

Joyce started her 25-year career in higher education as the assistant director of admission at Butler University in Indianapolis when she graduated from the school with her bachelor’s degree. Most recently, she was vice president of marketing, enrollment and student services at The University of South Dakota, where she also taught as an assistant professor of communications.

"The opportunity to work with Western State's dedicated faculty and staff who help shape the college's unique offerings is truly an outstanding honor. It is an exciting time at Western and I look forward to being a part of the community," Joyce remarked.

In addition to a bachelor’s degree in public and corporate communications, Joyce holds a master’s degree communication from The University of Dubuque and doctorate in philosophy from Southern Illinois University.
