WSC to Host Public Auction of Surplus Property from Former Dining Hall, Jan. 14; Items also available free to non-profits
Jan. 5, 2010 -- With the move of campus dining services to the new College Center, Western State College of Colorado will auction surplus property from its former dining hall.
WSC to Host Public Auction of Surplus Property from Former Dining Hall, Jan. 14; Items also available free to non-profitsThe auction will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14 at Keating Hall (at the East end of Gothic St) on the WSC campus in Gunnison. There will be a preview period 8 a.m. to Noon. Bidder registration begins at Noon with the auction beginning soon thereafter.
Items for sale include: working commercial kitchen appliances and items used to serve approximately 2,000 meals per day, such as ovens, ranges, refrigerators, fryers, stainless steel tables, mixers, dishes, catering and serving items; an 1100 cubic-foot walk-in freezer, approximately 10 years old in good condition with newer compressor; office/resident hall furniture; tables and chairs of all kinds, including dining tables and chairs, booths and stools; retail display shelves and racks.
Items not sold during a public auction will be offered to not-for-profit organizations free of charge. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Keating Hall. Interested organizations must verify their not-for-profit status by providing tax exempt status documentation when registering at the beginning of the event.
“The items available from Keating are still in good shape and working order,” remarked Drew Jenkins, associate vice president for finance and administration at Western. “We would rather see these items get a second life than be dumped at a landfill or scrapped.”
All items purchased at the public auction must be paid for in cash or credit card by the conclusion of the auction. Purchased and donated items need to be removed from Keating Hall no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22. Buyers and organizations are responsible for any disassembly and disconnection to facilitate removal from the facility. All items are sold in “as is” condition and come with no warranty.
