Hands-On Education, High Altitude Performance

Western's one of a kind location high in the Rockies provides academic opportunities you wont' find anywhere else.

At Western State Colorado University, our students have opportunities for hands-on learning in an academic environment you won't find anywhere else.

Our High Altitude Performance Lab, located at 7750 feet above sea level, is an educational facility unlike any other. It's a key component to Western's Exercise & Sports Science major, and it's what allows our graduates to enter the workforce with  hands-on expertise that many industry professionals don't have.

Students become familiar with state-of-the-art equipment and testing procedures while gaining an understanding of the major fitness parameters, such as muscular endurance and strength, cardiopulmonary capacity, flexibility, and body composition. The HAPlab puts student knowledge and skills to use in the real world, helping athletes, teams and the community find ways to improve their fitness and athletic performance.
