Gunnison Energy Establishes WSC Scholarship for Local Students
Jan. 25, 2012 -- Gunnison Energy Corporation (GEC) has established a scholarship at Western State College of Colorado (WSC) for local high school students enrolling in the Professional Land and Resource Management (PLRM) program.
The Gunnison Energy Professional Land and Resource Management Scholarship for the Gunnison Valley will provide two awards of $2,500 to graduates from Gunnison and Crested Butte high schools. The annual scholarship is available to students who are beginning the PLRM program as an undergraduate or additional B.A. candidate.
“Gunnison Energy wants to be a good neighbor by investing in the community and in its students,” remarked GEC President Brad Robinson. “Western’s PLRM program is regarded as one of the best in the country and we look forward to bright, local students joining us in meeting energy demands.”
Eligible students may apply for the scholarship through the PLRM program by contacting Ed Grauke, PLRM director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (970) 943-2538.
The PLRM program is a degree emphasis within the business administration major. It is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as land negotiators. Students learn land and resource management principles through knowledge and perspectives of business administration, economics, geology and environmental studies. The program is designed to prepare students to work in the business side of energy and mineral exploration.
GEC was founded in 2001 to drill, produce and transport natural gas and oil along the southern flank of the Piceance Basin as well as other areas in the Rocky Mountain Region. GEC is a member of the Oxbow Group of companies, which specializes in the global energy business.
