Guitarist Jim Bosse Joins WSC Music Faculty for Feb. 16 Concert; Anderson presents senior voice recital on Feb. 18

Feb. 8, 2010 -- Classical guitarist Jim Bosse will collaborate with flutist Becky Weidman-Winter and violinist Kenneth Todd of the Western State College Music faculty in a concert in Quigley Recital Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is being co-sponsored by Gunnison Savings and Loan Association and the WSC Music Department. The public is invited to attend the evening performance as well as a 12:30 p.m. convocation presented the same day, also in Quigley Recital Hall. Admission to both events is free.

Jim Bosse is well-known to Gunnison audiences as a member of the Dos Americas guitar duo and their Quigley performances of the music of North and South America. He and guitarist Alejandro Davila of Argentina have performed widely in Argentina and Colorado and have presented the works of many Argentine and American composers. The February 16 concert showcases some of the many wonderful works for guitar and other instruments and will include flute and guitar solos, duos for flute and guitar, and duos for violin and guitar. Composers on the program are Jim Bosse, Ian Clarke, Stepan Rak, Jose Paredes, Francisco Molino, David Leisner, and Jacques Ibert. 

Randi Andersen Presents Senior Voice Recital on Feb. 18.

Mezzo-soprano Randi Andersen will present her senior voice recital in Quigley Recital Hall on Thursday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend this free concert. 

The evening's program includes arias by Bizet and Handel, Schubert Lieder, French art song, Maori songs, and selections from musical theater. She will be assisted by pianist Alyce Meredith in the entire program and will also be joined by other voice students in two of the musical theater selections.

Ms. Andersen is a graduate of Pagosa Springs High School and will graduate from Western in May 2010 with a double major in music and theater. In addition to her time on campus she spent a semester studying on the Scholar Ship and a semester in New Zealand.
