The index ranks the quantity and quality of recreational activities that are available to students, faculty and staff on campus.
The annual rankings include only some 25 percent of America’s more than 2,000 four-year colleges and universities.
“Magic,” says Shelley Read, a senior lecturer in English at Western State Colorado University, who organized a Maymester trip to Prague for Western’s Honors program.
Specifically, the funding will help recruit effective educators to teach in rural areas throughout Colorado.
After a few preliminaries to keep all entertained, the pitch rose with the annual parade along Tomichi Avenue and up Main Street.
The day's event got underway as snow flurries floated in from Hartman Rocks. Despite the chilly weather, the Mountaineer Bowl was packed with families and friends eager to see the Class of 2015 walk across the stage.
Dr. Markey, a 1993 graduate, will deliver the commencement speech before thousands of families and hundreds of students earning their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Writing the Rockies, Western's summer literary conference, will take place on campus this year from Wednesday, July 22, through Saturday, July 25.
