Titled “What is the new normal”, the workshop brings together some of the most important thinkers and stakeholders in the region to search for solutions.

Manzanares-Gonzales after a battle with cancer. Dr. Manzanares-Gonzales had served Western State Colorado University since July of 2012 and will be greatly missed by the faculty, staff, students and the rest of the Western community.

Western’s Extended University Studies program includes trips to China, Egypt and Nepal and offers a wide array of classes in the region throughout the summer. Meanwhile, Western’s Conference Services staff has been hard at work all year booking guests to campus and plans to host 6,410 people through the summer.
Fifty Western students, faculty and community members are travelling to Belize, China, Ecuador, Egypt or Florence on the international trips offered through Western’s Extended University Studies program during Maymester 2013.

GUNNISON, CO – Western State Colorado University will host a meeting of geoscientists from the Rocky Mountain region and beyond May 15-17 to celebrate the Geological Society of America’s 125th Anniversary and discuss new science, expand on existing science, and explore the unique geologic and historic features of the Gunnison Valley and beyond. Topics include hydrogeology, geoscience education, dust and soil, and rare-earth elements and other mineral deposits.
Western State Colorado University will confer degrees to more than 340 students from 40 states at its 2013 commencement on Saturday, May 11th. Charlotte Buchanan, of Homer, Alaska, will present the student address.

Two graduates of Western State Colorado University are giving back to the school they love, donating a significant tract of land adjacent to the university to the WSCU Foundation. The donation marks the largest land gift to the university community in history.
