Welcome

Students sitting outside of the library.

Thank you for your interest in Western State College of Colorado. We invite you to apply for admission. We are on a rolling admission basis for each semester. Approximately 20 students from 10 countries study at Western State College. You are an international student only if you will apply for or already have a non-immigrant United States F-1 visa. Western State College admits students on an F-1 visa only. Applicants who have established permanent resident status in the U.S. are not considered international for admission purposes and should apply as a United States resident.

Well trained and caring international student advisors help internationals meet the challenges of study in the U.S. by providing pre-arrival assistance information on visas, registration, orientation, housing, as well as advising on personal and cross-cultural matters.

International students seeking admission must submit an application for admission, high school and/or college transcripts (translated into English), along with the $30 (U.S. currency) non-refundable application fee. If you fill out the application online there is no application fee. Students will be considered for admission to each academic semester offered (Fall, Spring, or Summer). Completed application forms must be on file with the Admissions Office 30 days prior to the beginning of the semester.

Admission Requirements

The following items must be submitted to the Admissions Office at the time of application:

  • Completed Application Form
  • $30.00 USD Application Fee (if filling out the application online there is no application fee)
  • Official Transcripts
  • English Proficiency
  • Financial Documentation
  • Affidavit of Support Form

Transfer Students

Students currently attending a US institution of higher education on an F-1 visa that wish to transfer to Western State College need not take the TOEFL if they have completed a college level English course and received a C grade or higher. Once an international transfer student has been accepted to Western State College they must request that their I-20 be transfered from the previosly attended institution to Western State College (please fill out the SEVIS Transfer Form). All other requirements for an incoming international student remain the same

Evaluating Level of Placement

In evaluating your level of placement, Western State College considers differences in foreign educational systems and compares your system with U.S. educational programs, based upon the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Guide. Due to the accreditation restrictions, as well as certain departmental policies, post secondary courses (even those with similar titles to Western State College courses) may not always be accepted for transfer credit. Degrees earned in other countries are not always considered to be equivalent to those earned in the U.S.

If you have completed 12 years of elementary and secondary schooling, you can study at the under-graduate level. The bachelor’s degree, pursued at the undergraduate level, usually entails four to five years of collegiate study. General education requirements, as well as requirements in a field of specialization called a major, must be met to earn a degree.
