Scholarships for Transfer Students

As an undergraduate transfer student, you are eligible for our transfer scholarship program, which honors your academic performance. Scholarships are awarded based on your overall academic record and evidence of achievements. Awards are made only to applicants who will attend Western State Colorado University full time. Students seeking an Additional Bachelor’s Degree are NOT ELIGIBLE for these scholarships.

Transfer Scholarships for Colorado Residents

Incoming transfer students who are residents of Colorado are eligible for the scholarships listed below. You are considered a transfer student if you took college classes AFTER you graduated from high school.

Transfer students with less than 24 college credits will be considered freshmen for scholarship purposes and will be awarded based off the eligibility requirements for Colorado Freshmen. Additionally, they must have a minimum 2.50 college GPA

The following merit scholarships are awarded automatically to incoming transfer students who meet the eligibility requirements. Merit scholarships are renewable for up to three years.

Phi Theta Kappa Members: $4,000

Phi Theta Kappa membership
3.00 GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)

Western Scholars Award: $3,000

3.50-4.00 cumulative GPA in 24+ college credits
3.00 GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)

 Western Advantage Award: $2,000

3.00-3.49 cumulative GPA in 24+ college credits
2.50 GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)

Scholarships for Out-of-State Transfers

Incoming transfer students who are residents of states other than Colorado are eligible for the scholarships listed below. You are considered a transfer student if you took college classes AFTER you graduated from high school.

Transfer students with less than 24 college credits will be considered freshmen for scholarship purposes and will be awarded based off the eligibility requirements for Non-Resident Freshmen. Additionally, they must have a minimum 2.50 college GPA.

The following merit scholarships are awarded automatically to incoming transfer students who meet the eligibility requirements. Merit scholarships are renewable for up to three years.

Phi Theta Kappa Members: $8,000

Mountaineer Scholars Award: $7,000

3.50-4.00 cumulative GPA in 24+ college credits
3.00 GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)

Mountaineer Advantage Award: $6,000

3.00- 3.49 cumulative GPA in 24+ college credits
2.50 GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)

Incoming transfer students who are residents of states other than Colorado and who do not qualify for a merit scholarship may be eligible for a Tuition Discount Program.
