What do you do for fun when you aren’t working at Western?

When I’m not working you can usually find me outside trying to scare myself. Skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, and kayaking are what I find myself doing most often. If the weather isn’t great, or it’s dark outside, you can still find me skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking or kayaking. You can also often find me at the Ruby or Majestic Theater, as I really like to watch movies on the big screen.

What is your favorite meal at your favorite Gunnison or Crested Butte restaurant?

My favorite meal would have to be a Mike’s Mexolina burrito from Teocalli Tamale in Crested Butte. After a big day of skiing and sledding in the Crested Butte backcountry it’s what I’m looking forward to. Spicy shredded beef, corn salsa, gourmet veggies; it’s huge and made of pure awesomeness. Every year on my birthday I try to eat two.

What is your favorite thing about living in Gunnison?

Hard pressed to pick just one. I’ll go with weather. Originally from Vermont, I was used to overcast skies and very high humidity levels growing up. When I moved to Gunnison, the weather was one of the things I noticed most. I found out I really enjoy the sun, and don’t enjoy the humidity. You can enjoy your surroundings just about anywhere you are, but doing it in bright sunshine without any humidity is definitely one of my favorite things about living in Gunnison.

Random fact about yourself?

I’m the head coach of the Western State Colorado University Freeride Ski Team.
