Mountaineer Magic

Peak. The 2005-06 fundraising efforts brought in a record $256,778.00 to Mountaineer Athletics. That total is a 12th straight record year and up over $8,000 from the
2004 total.

“Once again we are very excited about the continued success of the MAA and their fundraising efforts,” Western Athletic Director Greg Waggoner said.
“Our members and community really rallies together to support us and any successes we have are a result of their efforts and support. I would also like the thank the MAA Board and MAA President Wayne Brown for their hard work in taking this fundraising drive to a new level.”

The 2005-06 year also featured the following:
• The annual Crab Feed and Casino Night brought in the second highest total is the event’s history.
• Summer Camps and Sport specific fundraising continue to climb.
• A new track for Mountaineer Bowl was finished.
• New Football Scoreboard.

Return to Dominance & Secure the Future campaign

Peak.A capital campaign for endowing WSC Football is underway, the second intercollegiate sport Western intends to privately endow.

The goal of this campaign is to immediately secure $200,000 in addition to institutional funding, and to endow the program at least at the $2 million level, and ideally, at the $4 million level within five years.

“The Western State College Football program has been one of the largest and most visible programs associated with the College for decades. The tradition of Mountaineer Football is rich and the value the program brings to the College, community and alumni family is hard to match,” said Greg Waggoner, Director of Athletics. “We have to think BIG and BOLD and we plan to continue on this fundraising trek until each and every one of our athletic programs is adequately funded and its place in the future is assured.”

We're Saving the Ski Program

We need your help and the help of all WSC alumni, friends and donors for the final push across the finish line. And once we reach our goal of sustaining the team (a $3 million goal) we will not stop there—we will continue to drive the program to a level of leadership that has never been achieved before.

Now is the time. We need your investment. Once again, we will set a new standard of commitment to Western, making WSC the first public four-year institution in Colorado to privately endow an intercollegiate sport – Skiing! Our team is headed for a big win, please join us. Thank you in advance! We’re counting on you! And so is Western.
