Becky Weidman-Winter
Visiting Professor of Music
Becky Weidman-Winter teaches flute, music theory, and music education classes at Western State College of Colorado and is the current President of the Colorado Flute Association. Becky has won the Flute Society of Kentucky (2008) and Mid-South (2007) Young Artist Competitions, received honorable mention in the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition (2008) and participated in the Jean-Pierre Rampal Competition in Paris, France (2001).
Becky has been a member of the Garland, Las Colinas, and Arlington Symphonies and the band Tin Roof Tango in Dallas, Texas. From 2001-2004 she was on the faculty at the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts in Lafayette, CO, teaching flute, piano, and Intro to Instruments and performed frequently with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra.
She is a DMA candidate at the University of North Texas and holds degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder (MM) and Oberlin Conservatory (BM). Her principal teachers include: Kathleen Chastain, Michel Debost, Alexa Still, and Terri Sundberg, and has participated as a soloist in master classes with Jeanne Baxtresser, William Bennett, James Galway, Clare Southworth and Ransom Wilson.
