PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Associate Professor Teacher Education, Western State College of Colorado. 1998-present.
Teach undergraduate courses in curriculum design and assessment for secondary preservice teachers; methods of teaching secondary science; methods of teaching science, social studies and mathematics in the elementary school. Have taught current issues and topics in the secondary schools, introduction to education in a multicultural society courses. Advise education students. Supervise student teachers and have directed student teaching program. Have coordinated Teacher Education Program's national accreditation process and report writing. Serve on college and community committees.
Course Instructor, Teach Now Alternative Licensure Program. 2002-2003.
Taught curriculum design and assessment courses for teachers holding emergency waiver.
 
Graduate Faculty, Western State College of Colorado/University of Colorado, Denver, Master of Arts Program. 2000-2002.
Taught advanced graduate practicum courses and research for teachers courses.
University Mentor in the Mentoring Emphasis for Rural Intern Teachers [MERIT] grant, PT3 (Cody Spendlove, Project Coordinator). 2003-present.
Work with student teachers and their classroom teachers using web camera technology and interactive video conferencing.
 
Project Director, Collaborative Mentoring for the Enhancement of Preservice Teacher Education (with N. Gaylen, $106,394). 2001-2002.
Designed and administered professional development program for teachers and education students that focused on improvement of science and math education, inquiry-oriented learning strategies, use of mentoring, and promoting classroom applications of the topics of professional development. Grant funded by the United States Department of Education, Eisenhower Program for Improving Mathematics and Science Instruction in Colorado
Project Co-director, Building And Reflecting about InterDisciplinary Studies II [BRAIDS II] (with H. Keck &N. Gaylen, $75,866.49). 2000-2001.
Designed and administered professional development program for teachers and education students that promoted an interdisciplinary orientation for science and math education and promoting classroom applications of the topics of professional development. Grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Eisenhower Program for Improving Mathematics and Science Instruction in Colorado.
