"Visual Perversity: A Re-articulation of Maternal Instinct"
The look that passes between - and binds - mother and child has been unquestioningly characterized as one of intense love and devotion. Implicit however in this gaze of the maternal is an unconscious hatred of the child and a desire for its annihilation.
