Black History Month Keynote Address

Presenter, Author and Motivational Speaker, Stan Pearson, will be bringing our campus/community together to celebrate history and culture through an inspiring black history program (Tuesday February 25th at 7pm in the University Center South Ballroom). The program titled, “Your Black is Beautiful, the Rise of a People”, will educate audience members on the significance of diversity and building a positive self-image regardless of what society says. Pearson, who is fluent in Spanish, says, “Growing up I wasn’t black enough for my black friends and I was too black for my white friends and years later I realize I am not the only one fighting the battle.” Everyone has their own story to tell and every story is powerful. Most often when you know the strength you came from, you understand your ability to move forward.  Through an engaging dialog Stan encourages students to eliminate excuses, realize their purpose and be proud of whom they are regardless of their cultural or socio-economic background. “In order for us to rise together, we have to know about each other,” says Pearson, who is passionate about bringing history to students.
