Benefit Ball for Habitat For Humanity (hosted by WAPL)

The Western Association of Professional Landmen (WAPL) will make history by not only hosting the biggest fundraiser in their club's history, but also hosting the first big event on campus with the newly acquired liquor license from Sodexo in the University Center!
The club has partnered up with the Gunnison Valley Habitat For Humanity and will be hosting the Western Benefit Ball on Friday, April 25th at 7:00pm in the University Center Ballroom.
“It's been challenging, but extremely rewarding,” says WAPL President Roger Vong when asked about working out the logistics of the event. WAPL consists of 50+ members and is a student organization that is an extension of the Professional Land & Resource Management (PLRM) Program. This will be their first fundraiser of this magnitude.
All proceeds will go towards Habitat For Humanity and their efforts to build and complete a home for a local family in need to move in by November 2014.  This year, a single mother was selected and Habitat For Humanity is halfway towards their fundraising goal.  WAPL is doing their best to assist and help raise as much of the remaining money needed for the completion of the project.
The club is very excited to get students involved and is looking forward to integrating the University and the Gunnison Valley Community as well.  "It is nice to know that although our time at Western as students is limited, we have the ability to contribute and do something that is bigger than ourselves and be part of a legacy that will last long after we have all graduated," says Vong.

This semi-formal event will feature food, drinks, music, and a silent auction!  Some of the big prizes up for grabs include a guided fishing trip, a homemade quilt, gift certificates to local restaurants, framed artwork, and possibly even a shotgun(!), to name a few.
As far as clothing options, WAPL Vice-President Emily Kolacny mentioned that tuxs, suits, slacks and button downs to gowns or cocktail dresses are all dandy, just wear your fanciest!

Entrance to the Benefit Ball is $3 at the door for anyone under 21, $5 for students who are 21 and over (includes two free drinks), and $7 for community members who are 21 and over (includes two free drinks).  There will also be an after-party at the Brick Cellar after the event.

WAPL would like to give a special thanks to SGA in helping them with funding for the event. So students, get dressed up, go have fun, and support a great cause on Friday, April 25th at the Western Benefit Ball for Habitat For Humanity!!!
