New Student Registration

Welcome to Western State Colorado University!

Registration Information for Families

The Academic Resource Center will guide you through registering for your first semester classes at Western.

Note: you must pay your $200 tuition deposit prior to registering for classes.

Click the appropriate title below for registration instructions:

Freshmen or Transfers with less than 24 credits

  • First time freshman
  • Freshman with AP or IB credits
  • Freshman that has completed college courses while still in high school (Concurrent/dual enrollment)
  • Transfer student who has completed less than 24 college credits

Transfers with 24 or more credits/ABA students

  • Transfer student who has completed 24 or more college credits
  • Additional BA Student

Freshmen or Transfers with less than 24 credits

All students will be registered for classes by an academic advisor once they have completed the New Student Registration Survey.

  • Complete your Academic Release of Information (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA) form if you would like to release academic information to a family member(s) or third party.
  • Login to your MyWestern Account
  • Go to Student Tab ---> Student Records ---> Academic Records Release

STEP 5

  • Pay your $200 tuition deposit. You can submit your deposit through your MyWestern account by selecting Student & Financial Aid Menu > Pay Bill or Tuition/Housing Deposit > Items for Purchase, Tuition Deposit. You may also pay your deposit by check (payable to "Western State Colorado University"), or credit card by contacting the Cashier's Office at 970.943.3003.

STEP 6

Transfers with 24 or more credits OR Additional BA Students

All students will be registered for classes by an academic advisor once they have completed the New Student Registration Survey.

STEP 1

  • Have you received your transfer evaluation? Your transferred courses will be in DegreeWorks and you would have received an email from the Office of the Registrar.
  • You will need access to your transfer courses in DegreeWorks for registration.
  • If your transfer coursework has not been evaluated and is not in DegreeWorks, you will be unable to complete the Registration Survey. 
    • Please contact Carrie Reinecke in the Office of the Registrar to expedite the processing of your transfer coursework if is not yet complete: 970.943.2048.

  • Complete the New Student Registration Survey here: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3138168/Spring-2017-Registration
  • Once you have completed the survey, an academic advisor will either register you for your first semester courses or will call you for over the phone course advising.
  • An academic advisor will be assigned to you once you have been registered for classes.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Non-Degree seeking students can enroll in classes without meeting with an advisor. Please visit www.western.edu/nondegree for additional information.

Concurrent Enrollment Students

Concurrent Enrollment students are enrolled in classes through Extended Studies. Please contact them directly at 970-943-2885.
