WSC Track and Field travels to Tailwind Invitational

The Western State College outdoor track and field team will “open” the
2012 season this weekend with student-athletes competing at the Stanford
Invitational and Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational. Competition at both
meets begin today, with the hammer at the Tailwind Invite and the
10,000-meter runs at Stanford.
This weekend is the first weekend when a majority of the Mountaineer teams will be in action. Western State had split action between eight meets in the opening weeks of the outdoor season coming into today.
Action will get underway in Albuquerque, N.M., earlier with the women's hammer throw at 4 p.m. Jennifer Swartwood will Lindsay Yoast will be two of the 15 student-athletes in the only flight, while Ryan Walstrom will step into the ring at 5:30 p.m. The rest of the action begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with the javelin before the start of the track events at 10:45 p.m. with the steeplechase.
