John H. Conway developed a notation to tabulate prime knots through 11 crossings and prime links through 10 crossings in 1969. His notation has been used to prove numerous results and more recently has been applied to knotting in DNA. Come find out how this fabulous notation identifies mathematical knots and links, what a mathematical tangle is, and how it all connects to mutant knots.
Refreshments will be served.
