Transfer Credit Evaluation

If you are accepted to Western you will receive a transfer credit evaluation within 2-4 weeks of your acceptance. This will be an official record of how your credits have transferred, and what, if any general education classes you will still be required to take at Western. Typically we will accept transfer credit if the grade earned was a C- or better.  We do not accept credit for vocational or technical courses.

For students with less than 24 hours transfering in you will need to register and pay for orientation before you can receive your class schedule. You will then be able to register for classes. Please call 1-800-876-5309 ext. 1 to schedule your class registration advising session over the phone.

For students with more than 24 hours transfering in you are strongly encouraged to register for orientation, but you can register for classes once you receive your acceptance letter and transfer evaluation. You will still need to call 1-800-876-5309 ext. 1 to schedule your class registration advising session over the phone.

Transfer guides can help students in course selection while they are completing an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree and outline courses to be taken to complete a Bachelors degree (BA) at Western.

Transferring AP, IB and CLEP credit

Western recognizes that many students have taken Advanced Placement tests, CLEP tests and/or participated in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The following links provide specific equivalencies for individual tests. A minimum score of 3 is required for credit to be granted for most Advanced Placement tests (for some a score of 4 is required). Western will grant International Baccalaureate credit for tests with a score of 4 or better. Students may be awarded a maximum of 18 credits from CLEP exams.
